Objective of this thesis is to find optimal sensor placements regarding vibration-based damage by utilizing modal parameters of a structure. The location of sensors is crucial for correct identification of the mode shapes of complicated mechanical structures. In this study, a specific model of a 100m wind tower was analyzed to determine the optimal sensor placement algorithm for vibration-based damage detection.
