Abstract
Copper electrorefining is the purification process where anode slabs with around 98%
copper content are introduced and dissolved in electrolyte solution to produce cathodes that
contains 99.99% pure copper through re-deposition. Major amount of copper is produced
through this process. In 2015, total 23 million tons of copper have been refined, in which 18.9
million tons of copper was produced by electrorefining process, and the amount of electrowon
copper was 4 million tons [1].
