Purpose of the study is to investigate molybdenum disulfide extracted from the Erdenet Cu-Mo deposit as a solid lubricant and its further application. This paper consists of a literature review of molybdenum disulfide’s applications, physical and chemical properties, crystal structure and behavior under different conditions, and the lubricating mechanism. The scope of the research was molybdenum disulfide-free powder rather than other forms of molybdenum disulfide-based lubricants. Also, a lubricating condition in a regular atmosphere is considered rather than in a vacuum environment.
