This thesis work focused on road dust reduction in Ulaanbaatar by filtering. It searched for ways to reduce the airborne with the filter attached on public bus operated in Ulaanbaatar city. The road dust contains the PM10 and PM2.5 which are one of the dangerous materials in air pollution and can affect human health. The airflow around a public bus was simulated by ANSYS CFD software. ANSYS Workbench 19.2 can simulate the with the pressure distribution around the bus, velocity streamlines and drag force. ANSYS has some fluid flow solvers which are fluent and CFX. In this study, CFX solver used to get an accurate result. The airflow around the public bus of the wind could predicted by ANSYS computer fluid dynamics. Thesis main purpose of this study was collecting road dust from several locations within the filter. There are two methods used for collecting the dust sample. First ones were dust collected from the specific locations without the filtering and another one was road dust collected with the filter to be attached on public bus. Filter (activated carbon air filter) was attached back of public bus with the additional motor, because this location is more efficient way to collecting dust from the air. The motor principle was just sucking the air into the air filter. This motor was working two weeks (186 hours). Each weeks had different way to sucking the air (inlet of the motor). First week 30g and next week 125g of PM2.5 was collected.
