Abstract

The Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar has been listed most polluted city in the world by the World Health Organization (WHO). The main reason is that during the winter months, most of it is caused by small coal and wood-fired stoves used for heating and cooking in Ger (Traditional yurts) districts. By considering these issues Mongolian Government took a series of actions to reduce air pollution, and one of them was the implementation of improved briquette coal beginning on May 15, 2019.
