Coking of Coal: Perspectives for Mongolia
(GMIT, 2018) Munkhtsetseg Amarjargal; Peter Vossen; Manfred J. Hampe
Mongolia is rich in coal, copper, rare earth, and gold ores. In the past 20 years, the Mongolian economy strongly relayed on the mining sectors. The mining industry contributed around onequarter to Mongolia’s gross domestic product in 2014. Unfortunately, this number is only a result of the export of the minerals as raw materials. No mining company produces the final product from an ore deposit in Mongolia. On the one hand it is a pity that Mongolia earns less income than what would be possible, but on the other hand, there is a free market waiting for companies to develop the mineral processing sector.
