Technical and Economic Feasibility Analysis of Copper Extraction from the Tailing Storage Facility in Erdenet
(German Mongolian Institute for Resouce and Technology, 2023-05-15) Michidmaa Bulgan
Sulfide copper minerals, primarily Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), stand out as prevalent sources for the extraction of copper through the pyrometallurgical process. Typically, the flotation process yields valuable concentrates, yet it also gives increase to flotation tailings, which retain unrecovered copper content. This thesis focuses on the comprehensive assessment of the technical and economic feasibility of extracting copper from the tailing storage facility in Erdenet. The technical feasibility analysis involves a thorough assessment of the copper recovery process, including the selection of appropriate equipment, optimization of operating conditions, and assessment of the required reagents.
